David “Max” Williamson

Max Williamson is a Chambers-rated business lawyer with three decades of “big law” experience as a partner in a leading environmental boutique law firm, at a Houston-based energy firm, and with a D.C. government affairs practice led by former Majority Leader Bob Dole.

Max founded WLP in 2012 to serve mission-driven innovators in energy, environmental, and impact markets.  He has been influential in policy and regulatory developments in Washington, D.C., California, and global environmental and social investing markets, including under the UNFCCC Kyoto Protocol, Paris Agreement and global voluntary carbon market.

Among other accomplishments, Max founded the Carbon Offset Providers Coalition (“COPC”), an alliance of leading investors in the North American and international carbon markets, whose members included the #1 and #2 largest U.S. carbon offset portfolios, the #1 U.S. credit aggregator, and the #1 project verifier, as well as the largest CDM portfolio in the world at that time.
